Going East
is an expedition through the eastern Alps of Austria with two yaks planned for autumn 2019. It is the third journey to realize the dream of an integral crossing of the Alps with a caravan of yaks.
Objective : to live at rhythm of the yaks, the mountains, nature and the weather as a herder and caravan leader; crossing mountains and valleys and sharing moments of hardship as well as moments of freedom, rest and lightness of being with the yaks. To access a deeper understanding of the yaks through living closely with them on a daily basis in a caravan situation and sharing the efforts of a long journey, being forced to find solutions together along the way and adapt to each other to find the most fluid and natural way to travel and communicate. Observing, learning, growing.
Travel period : September through November 2019
Expedition members : Rosula Blanc and her two yak steers Naulekh et Tsarang - attended by Lena Hensen, Regina Gwerder et Pascale Schmied
Itinerary : From Jerzens in Tirol following the « Zentralalpenweg 2A » eastwards to the region of Knittelfeld/Köflach
